The layers of meaning in ‘Purple Womb’ include my experience of childbirth and also the death of my father in 1983. The complex pattern of invented symbols and hieroglyphs express a very personal vision of the womb as a universal symbol of female power. The colour purple expresses our mystical understanding of its central part in the cycle of birth, death and rebirth.
