Black Rose

Hand Knitted Textile

125cm x 30cm

‘Black Rose’ is one of four constructed hand – knitted textiles inspired again by the poem ‘Quite Contrary’ by Mary Davenport. By changing the colour of the rose and the words of the last two lines, I then created a poem with a new title and meaning.

‘Rose of the Night’

He brought her roses red,

He brought her roses white,

But a black rose, she said

Would celebrate the night.
